Our history

Saved by the village.

Denholme Community Centre was created in January 2018 so the Denholme Mechanics Institute could be transferred from Bradford Metropolitan District Council into community hands.

In 2017, local people learned the building was at risk of closure because of council budget pressures. More than 900 people signed a petition to keep it open.

The building was due to close on 31 March 2018. Instead, local residents formed the charity, became trustees and took over the running of the centre on 1 April 2018 under a 99-year lease.
